The TROY ISD Board of Trustees unanimously elected Gary McMurtry as board president during its regular meeting on May 18, 2026. Superintendent Neil Jeter presided over the election; Bill Negron nominated McMurtry and the board voted in favor without opposition.
Lindsey Strait nominated Bill Negron for vice president; Jason Collier moved and Amy McKissick seconded the motion to elect Negron, and the board voted unanimously. Jason Collier nominated Carrie Trees for secretary; Bill Negron moved and Amy McKissick seconded the motion to elect Trees, and the board again voted unanimously.
The elections followed routine nominations from board members and were recorded in the meeting minutes with roll-call votes. The votes for all three officer elections were recorded as unanimous (Ayes: Amy McKissick, Jason Collier, Bill Negron, Carrie Trees, Gary McMurtry, Jeffrey Thigpen, Lindsey Strait), and no nays were recorded.
