He said the executive assistant to the First Selectman position received 175 applications, narrowed to about 17 then to 9 for panel interviews and finally to two finalists; those finalists are scheduled for final interviews with the First Selectman and fiscal officer on June 10. Legasse said the town hopes to make an offer shortly.
Legasse also said a full‑time police officer position became available because Officer John Cavallo will retire July 1; he offered a conditional appointment to a current certified officer, Sean Martinez, who accepted the offer and whose background check is underway and expected to take 2–3 months. Seasonal hiring for summer camp includes 10 returning counselors and two new hires; open enrollment materials for medical and dental benefits will be distributed to employees ahead of the July 1 plan year.
