Troup ISD certifies two unopposed trustees and cancels May election

The Troup Independent School District Board of Trustees voted March 19 to certify two unopposed candidates and to cancel the May 2, 2026 board election. Ty Lindsey moved to certify the unopposed candidates; Jake Howard seconded. The board declared Vic Bansal, Place 2, and Shane Jasper, Place 3, elected and passed the motion 7–0.
Following certification, the board approved an Order of Cancellation for the May 2 general election on a 7–0 vote (motion by Todd Kelly; second Homer Dickey). Board members said the action followed the district's verification that both races were uncontested and that the cancellation procedure was appropriate under state election rules. The newly certified trustees will assume their positions after the normal post-election seating process.
