City Administrator Michael Grayum told the council that Public Works staff are installing new water meters that enable remote radio reads. The installation is being done in-house to save taxpayer dollars and is expected to continue for several months, possibly into next year. Grayum said the technology will improve customer service and help reduce water leakage once the system and staff training are fully in place.
Grayum also reported he is re-engaging on the delayed "future of fire" report with Volunteer Fire Fighter Trevor Oswalt after Interim Fire Chief Rick Holden resigned and the report could not be completed on schedule. Clerk-Treasurer Shelli Quantrell is importing the city's financial records into the ClearGov budgeting system to support development of the 2025 budget and the city's first five-year revenue forecast.
