The Borough Council unanimously adopted a comprehensive civil rights policy on Jan. 7, 2026 that applies to officials, appointees, employees, volunteers, independent contractors and members of the public who interact with municipal employees. The resolution cites federal and state civil-rights laws (including the Federal Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination) and directs the Borough Administrator to establish written reporting procedures, alternate complaint routes, anti-retaliation protections and periodic training requirements.
The resolution requires the Borough Administrator to monitor compliance, report at least annually to the governing body on monitoring results, and communicate a summary of the policy and procedures within the borough and on the municipal website. The policy took effect immediately upon adoption and the council directed publication in the official borough newspaper.
