At its Jan. 7 reorganization meeting, the West Long Branch Borough Council adopted a series of financial and tax-related resolutions for 2026. The council fixed delinquent tax interest rates effective Jan. 7, 2026 (8% per annum on the first $1,500; 18% per annum on amounts over $1,500; and an additional 6% penalty on delinquencies over $10,000 that remain past Dec. 31). It also established a ten-day grace period for quarterly tax payments made by check or money order.
Council authorized the Tax Collector to conduct a tax sale during 2026 and to participate in the state-approved electronic tax sale program (New Jersey Tax Lien Investors/RealAuctions.com). The council adopted a $25 per-notice mailing fee for the 2026 electronic tax sale to be charged to delinquent accounts, and approved a cash management plan listing permissible investments and naming TD Bank, Two River Community Bank, Citizens Bank and Kearny Bank as official depositories.
