Superintendent Shaw reiterates winter-closure threshold and highlights early middle-college launch

Shaw also reminded families of Winterfest events at the high school, noted the district observes Martin Luther King Jr. Day with no school, and said Jan. 24 will be a half-day for students marking the end of the semester. He highlighted the start of the district’s early middle-college program and recent assessment gains, urging staff and trustees to continue focusing on academic performance.
The superintendent said the district uses WeatherBug and airport data to inform decisions and that, whenever possible, closures are announced the night before. Trustees asked clarifying questions about the decision process and thanked staff for watching conditions and communicating with families.
