Students highlighted: CTE growth, UIL and debate results, and spring activities

Union Grove ISD trustees received a packet of student and program updates on March 23 that included CTE growth, UIL activity and recent extracurricular results.
Principal Amanda Childress summarized recent career and technical education (CTE) activity and said the district has "grown our CTE from 30% to 60% in one year." The board recognized Lion of the Month students — Max Puentes (Elementary), Alex Moncada (JH) and Tinsleigh Webb Pritchett (HS) — and 'Triple E' staff awardees Richard Jasper (Elementary) and Jill Winn (JH/HS).
Academic and performing-arts results were noted: HS Academic UIL district meet scheduled at Ore City on March 25; state CX Debate competitors Bri Bowling and Peyton Hancock finished third at state; OAP Bi-District will be at Panola College March 26–27. Athletic season updates included girls golf as district champions, boys as runner-up, and multiple track meets hosted by the district.
The principal’s report and superintendent’s athletic update together presented a snapshot of student activity across academics, career programs and athletics; the board recorded the recognitions and schedules in the minutes.
