Mayor Pete Guindi told the EDC Redevelopment Committee that the town is pursuing river dredging to enable ferry services connecting multiple stops. "Working to have river dredged for ferry services, 3 new stops in the pipeline: 1. Carteret 2. South Amboy (stop is open already with construction underway) 3. South River," the minutes report.
Guindi said the idea under discussion would have South River provide a piece of property for a ferry hub to be built. The minutes do not include details on funding sources, a timeline for dredging, required permits, or which agencies would implement dredging and ferry operations. No vote or formal motion on the ferry plan was recorded in the minutes.
