Tim Bower, speaking for the Foundation, told trustees that "The Gala was a huge success with over $42,000 raised" and that, combined with founding grants and sponsor contributions, the Foundation would fund 11 of 13 submitted teacher grants. "The total amount donated for the first round of grants will be $52,971.28," Bower said. Trustees moved the donation item on the agenda and then approved the donation unanimously.
The Foundation reported multiple revenue lines: more than $42,000 from its gala, $70,000 from founding grants, and $15,000 from sponsors, along with recurring teacher donations. Foundation leaders said they expect grant awards to be presented in April. The board’s acceptance authorizes the district to allocate the funds to approved classroom projects.
Board members asked for and received the summary financial figures during the information report; no vote counts showed opposition. The acceptance follows the board’s ongoing support for supplemental classroom resources and aligns with district priorities for teacher-driven grant projects.
The board will record the Foundation donation in district accounts and staff will notify grant applicants of award timing.
