Board approves 2026–27 calendar, transfer fee and library materials; declines SB11 resolution

The Union Grove ISD Board of Trustees took several policy and education-related actions at the Feb. 9 meeting.
Trustees approved the school calendar for 2026–2027 (Calendar #1), which had been selected by faculty (67 votes) and recommended by the District Site Based Committee. The board also approved a teacher certification plan related to delayed teacher certification requirements and adopted campus improvement plans for elementary, junior high and high school as presented by campus principals.
On transfer policy, the board set the transfer fee at $500 per family for 2026–2027. Trustees voted unanimously to approve library materials proposed for procurement as required by Senate Bill 13 and Policy EFB(LOCAL). Separately, the board voted unanimously to not accept or approve a resolution regarding Senate Bill 11 (Period of Prayer and Reading of the Bible or Other Religious Text).
Each motion on these education matters carried by unanimous vote.
