Pitman leaders celebrate Lipari Landfill deletion from EPA Superfund list; praise local library and volunteers

Councilman Uyehara, who serves as borough liaison to the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee, thanked the DEI Committee for its Hispanic Heritage Month proclamation and announced that the Pitman Environmental Commission will host a Lipari Landfill Deletion Celebration on Oct. 1 from 10–11 AM at Betty Park, noting that the Lipari Landfill will be deleted from the EPA’s Superfund Site list.
During the public comment period, resident Mike Grillo reported that the livestream of the last budget meeting received 1,100 views and praised McCowan Library for its programming; Mayor Razze and Councilperson Vanessa James echoed thanks to library staff and the Friends of the Library for supporting community programs. Sandi Keller also thanked organizers and volunteers for Community Appreciation Night and the Fall Craft Show.
The meeting record shows the landfill deletion event as a local Environmental Commission celebration and records community praise for library programs that council members said attract regional visitors and benefit local businesses.
