Pitman council hears police, water/sewer and highway department updates

During her council report, Councilwoman Milward highlighted recent police training: SRO/PO Peter Stefanopoulos attended the State Chief’s Frontline Supervision Training (Sept. 16–20) and Investigator Tyler Hagan completed a digital photography class (Sept. 11) to support investigations. Milward thanked officers and borough departments for Community Appreciation Night and identified operational changes after traffic audits: "No traffic problem was discovered but several ‘Slow Children Playing’ signs were added to the block and two ‘Speed Limit’ signs will be going up as well," she reported.
Councilman Bially relayed Economic Development Committee updates (Welcome to Pitman banners on Broadway; disc golf sponsor signs coming; plans for a small business seminar in Spring 2025) and read the Water & Sewer Department’s recent operational statistics: 31 water & sewer mark-out requests (9/9–9/20), five sewer stoppages cleared, 20 lead and copper samples completed, three meter head upgrades and hydrant flushing planned to begin the week of Sept. 30. The Highway Department reported collection totals (10 loads of trash = 125.20 tons; 7 loads of recyclables = 22.98 tons), brush and bulk pickups, sign repairs and event support. Public Works announced a community shred on Oct. 5 and monthly trash drop-off dates.
The reports were presented as informational items; no formal action was taken beyond scheduling and event permits later on the agenda.
