Union Grove ISD board extends multiple staff contracts after closed session
Summary
Following a closed session, trustees unanimously approved extensions for several counselors, administrators and professional staff, including multi-year extensions for some non-certified positions.
After adjourning to closed session under Texas Government Code, the Union Grove ISD Board of Trustees approved a series of personnel contract extensions on Feb. 9.
Trustee Tim Turner moved and Michael Potter seconded extension of Kathryn Smith (Elementary Counselor) to a 10-month term contract for the 2026–2027 school year; the motion passed unanimously. Trustees likewise approved one-year extensions for Jennifer Applegate (District Counselor, 11-month) and Amanda Childress (Certified Administrator, 11-month). Stephaney Wallace’s certified administrator contract (11-month) and Landon Trent’s certified administrator contract (12-month) were extended for 2026–2027; Kyle Adams received a 12-month multi-year extension through 2028–2029. The board also approved a multi-year contract for Colton Shaver as Technology Director (non-certified professional) for 2026–2028 and extended a probationary 12-month contract for Kelly Klein as Business Manager for 2026–2027.
All contract-extension motions carried unanimously. The board did not record public debate on these personnel items in open session; the actions followed closed-session deliberations pursuant to Texas Government Code.
