The commission approved a resolution authorizing FDOT Amendment No. 32, which permits the Waldorf Astoria to perform landscaped improvements on State Road A1A under a revised permit. Rob McCahon, the public works director, told commissioners that FDOT agreed to remove a median after resident concerns that the median disrupted access to neighboring properties.
Brandy Zabidol, a resident, spoke in favor of the modification and thanked Commissioner Fesick for working with the developer and neighbors. The commission asked no further questions and voted unanimously to adopt the resolution.
Staff said FDOT is revising the permit language and will proceed with removal of the median as part of the revised plan; no additional city funding was noted in the record.
