Board accepts donations for park programs, hears a business-owner statement and appoints a member to arts committee

The Board of Selectmen voted April 14 to accept two $1,000 donations for Park and Recreation programming and acknowledged a separate donation for monument renovations.
First, the board accepted a $1,000 donation from the Woodbury Lions Club to sponsor park-and-rec summer camp; the motion was moved by the First Selectman and seconded by Selectman Karen Redington Hughes. The board then accepted a $1,000 donation from Judy Duran of The Charcoal Chef for park-and-rec sponsorship. Zolpa read a statement from Duran announcing she has sold the business and thanking customers: "Because I'm writing as a longtime owner of the Charcoal Chef, I know that by now everyone has learned that the chef has been officially sold and will, within the next few months, open as barbecue Americana," Zolpa said while reading Duran's remarks into the record.
Zolpa also acknowledged a $1,000 donation from S and S Paving to the Soldiers Monument South Green renovation; that contribution went directly into a special revenue fund and did not require formal acceptance. The board then approved an appointment: Richard Coates moved to appoint Loriano Witt to the ad hoc arts and culture committee, term ending November 30, 2027; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
All donation acceptances and the appointment were approved by voice vote with no recorded opposition in the meeting record.
