The Board of Selectmen approved a request on April 14 to allow Pat Grishka's 40th annual triathlon to use Woodbury roads on Saturday, June 20, 2026. Richard Coates moved to approve the event; the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote.
Coates read event details into the record: the race window is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., organizers estimate approximately 200 participants, and the route will use Route 64, Tuttle Road and White Deerocks Road with a soft closure of Old Waterbury Road. Organizers provided insurance and a race checklist (the George Hale road-race checklist) and said coordination with local police, Middlebury fire rescue and Middlebury Ambulance has been initiated.
Coates said public-works staff typically assist with minor traffic control and that the event director (Tom Wilkes) covers overtime costs for public-works personnel when needed. With those measures in place the board approved the request during the meeting.
