Selectman Richard Coates reported on April 14 that he submitted a federal appropriations request (fiscal year 2027) through U.S. senators' offices to help fund replacement of the old town hall roof, shutters and rear-house windows.
Coates said the request "could cover up to 0.5 of the cost of doing that, which is approximately $210,000." He cautioned the grant is not guaranteed and said the board must plan for both the possibility of partial funding and the possibility that the town will need to absorb more of the cost. Coates recommended the town prepare more complete cost estimates so future recurring grant applications are better supported.
Town staff did not present final project estimates during the meeting; Coates said the board will pursue additional detail as grant timelines and award decisions develop.
