Summary
A proposed brewery and tasting room on the old garage site has drawn developer interest, but staff said septic capacity, nitrate loading and high treatment costs mean county approvals and expensive system upgrades will be required before building permits.

Councilors discussed a potential brewery and tasting room proposed for the old garage property near mini storage. Staff said the building code would permit such a use from a building perspective, but the project faces wastewater constraints: "Again, we're back to septic. We're back to sewer issues... Please meet with the county, discuss with them how they plan to meet those needs," staff advised.
Staff reported that a designer has been engaged and that the developer is meeting with county officials to evaluate nitrate loading and treatment options. The council noted brewery operations can create high biochemical and solids loads and said any approval will depend on the county's septic/nitrate study outcomes and likely expensive system upgrades.
