Waco ISD board approves 2025–26 district and campus improvement plans

The board voted to approve the Waco ISD district and campus improvement plans for 2025–26 after a presentation from Dr. King Knowles outlining plan development, alignment to the five‑year strategic plan, required needs assessments and PDSA (plan‑do‑study‑act) cycles. Dr. King Knowles told trustees the plans are required annually by state and federal law and are intended to focus on student achievement, equity and continuous improvement.
“Plan development involves comprehensive needs assessments…input is gathered from stakeholders, teachers, parents, students and our community,” Dr. King Knowles said as she walked trustees through how campus improvement plans derive from the district plan. Trustee Guillory moved to approve the plan and Trustee Davis seconded; the board approved the motion by voice vote after no trustees requested further discussion.
Board materials and the presenter emphasized common themes in the plans — tiered academic interventions, professional learning for new curriculum rollouts, attendance strategies and family engagement — and the administration said it will provide quarterly updates on implementation and outcomes.
