Parent urges Quillayute Valley board to expand specialized behavioral-health supports for students

A parent asked the Quillayute Valley School District board to expand access to behavioral-health services for students with co-occurring disabilities. "My daughter has several co occurring disabilities, and her disabilities greatly impact her mental and behavioral health," Natasha Reagan said during public comment, and she left the board with compiled resources and contact information.
Reagan described years of work with specialists and hospitals and urged the district to pursue a mobile mental and behavioral health service offering testing, diagnosis and specialized therapies for autism, ADHD and other conditions. Superintendent Diana told the board the administration has the materials and will discuss them in a leadership meeting; she also said the board would revisit the request publicly. The exchange concluded with Reagan asking how the recently adopted cell-phone policy would accommodate students with IEP or 504 accommodations. Diana said, "Whatever is in an IEP is the law," and that accommodations allowing devices would continue to be honored.
