Administrator David told the council that a professional baseline report recommended remediation steps at the nature center and recommended a $15,000 appropriation from the open-space trust fund to install activated-carbon socks as a mitigation measure. "I'm recommending that we appropriate $15,000 out of the open space trust fund to be able to implement their, suggested, solution," he said.
The council agreed to proceed with first-reading paperwork and to discuss the rationale and any legal implications in closed session. The item was listed as Ordinance 26-03 (open-space appropriation) and read into the record for a first reading; adoption would require a second reading and a formal vote at a later meeting.
