The police policy and code service committee approved event requests for the JC's Hometown Fest on April 18, including a temporary closure of public streets, a waiver of the sound amplification ordinance for the primary festival days and an additional carnival-only day on Thursday, June 30 from 5 to 10 p.m. Staff said organizers will not serve liquor on the added carnival night and that the village and park district will coordinate the exact street-closure plan.
Committee members required a point of contact be on site and gave police discretion to cut amplified sound if complaints are received after 10:30 p.m. on Sunday. "If police receives any calls after 10:30PM on Sunday, they will be forced to turn off all amplified noise," staff recommended during the committee discussion. The committee approved the motion with those conditions and reported the item to the council's consent calendar.
