The Waco Independent School Board voted to approve the notice of a public meeting to discuss the proposed 2025–26 budget and proposed tax rate and set the public hearing for Aug. 28, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. at the Waco ISD Administration Building.
Board member David moved the motion and Bledsoe seconded. Chair called for discussion and, with no discussion offered, called the vote; the motion carried on a voice vote with ayes.
Cheryl Davis, who presented the budget materials, told trustees the notice packet includes the tax-rate calculation worksheet, comparisons to last year’s levy and the estimated impact on the average resident. "We will do our public hearing on the night of the 28th before you adopt the budget and tax rate," Davis said during the presentation.
Next steps: the district will publish the Truth in Taxation notice in the newspaper with at least 10 days’ notice and will post the required schedules on the Waco ISD website ahead of the hearing.
