District and Insight School Washington report mixed enrollment trends; online program expects large October count

District staff reported mixed enrollment signals in September: brick‑and‑mortar counts were slightly below projection while kindergarten remained strong. The district is watching ECAP and first‑grade shortfalls and potential competition from tribal and choice programs.
The district presenter (S2) said the brick-and-mortar projection was 874 and the first-month count was down by 22 students; ECAP seats budgeted at 54 currently had 39 filled. The report flagged a shortfall in first grade where 82 had been expected and only 56 were present.
Myron (S11), introduced by district staff as the Insight School Washington contact, provided an enrollment update for the district’s partner online program and said, “right as of this morning, we have over 500 done, just about or just over just about 510 kids in the elementary that are approved that'll be on our October 1 count potentially.” District and Insight staff said rolling enrollments and different enrollment windows make counts dynamic and that they expect figures to change before the official October 1 count.
Board members agreed to monitor trends and noted that running-start students, homeschool plus adjustments and tribal choices also affect headcount and budget projections.
