District safety report: drills, trainings and positive vulnerability assessment, chief says

Chief Roy Fikac told the board that 66 door-sweep inspections and 34 traffic-control services were completed across the elementary, junior high and high school campuses. He reported one accidental 911 call, one CPS referral documented with a police incident report, and security coverage for seven sporting events during the reporting period.
Chief Fikac also reported training and preparedness activities: two Shelter Standard Response Protocol drills on campuses, 40 hours of Crisis Intervention Training completed during spring break, ALERRT leadership training on March 24, and Advanced Behavioral Threat Assessment training completed by the chief with Sgt. Kelli Fikac scheduled to complete the course in April. The district's February 2026 NIBRS submission "was submitted to and accepted by DPS with zero errors," according to the minutes.
