Clayton considers limiting retail cannabis to two Delsea Drive licenses

The Borough of Clayton Council on March 12 discussed a draft ordinance to license and regulate cannabis establishments and considered limiting retail sales to two locations on Delsea Drive, one at the north end and one at the south end. Council members also discussed a proposed $2,500 application fee for prospective licensees and asked staff to check zoning and permissive districts before formally introducing the ordinance.
Engineer Mark Brunermer urged a zoning review before the ordinance is finalized, and council members agreed to incorporate those checks and other edits into the draft for introduction at the next meeting. The council did not take a formal vote on the ordinance during the March 12 meeting; the matter will return on the agenda once staff and counsel prepare the revised language.
