Elementary midyear testing shows gains; high school reports industry-certification progress

At the April 20 meeting, Elementary Principal Kelly Medford reviewed beginning- and midyear assessments for first- and second-graders and explained interventions intended to close gaps, including raider camp, tutorials and small groups. Vice President Matt Eastwood asked that the board be provided information on whether students who are behind had attended Pre-K; Medford said she would provide that follow-up to the board.
CTE Director Leisha Smith told trustees the high school has 88 graduating seniors, 53 of whom already hold at least one industry-based certification and about 17 more who are completing certifications. Smith said the district expects the high school to be about 95% college, career or military ready by the end of the year.
