West Rusk CCISD honors UIL winners; welding program awarded $10,000 Airgas grant

The West Rusk County Consolidated Independent School District Board of Trustees recognized two intermediate students who placed at UIL competitions and learned that the high school welding class received a $10,000 grant.
Krystal Medford, Intermediate Principal, introduced Maddie Pino, who "placed 1st in Art History and her team placed 2ⁿᵈ place," and Jak Young, who placed first in oral reading and treated the board to a sample reading. CTE Director Leisha Smith told the board the welding class was awarded a $10,000 grant from Airgas USA, LLC; she said the district was among a small number of East and Southeast Texas districts to receive it. The grant will be credited to the high school's welding account for use by the program.
