Police Chief Steve Graham told commissioners that the Fiscal Year 2024 Local Solicitation Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) earmarked $13,242 for the Winter Garden Police Department to purchase SWAT vests and equipment for the Metro SWAT Team; he said additional funding would be required and requested use of law enforcement trust funds not to exceed $25,000.
Mayor John Rees opened and closed the public hearing with no speakers. Commissioner Chloe Johnson moved to approve distribution of the $13,242 JAG funds for SWAT vests and equipment and to use law enforcement trust funds up to $25,000; Commissioner Iliana R. Jones seconded and the motion passed unanimously 5-0.
