Waco ISD says class of 2025 exceeded interim CCMR goal, eyes further supports

Dr. Dina Kornblum, presenting Strategic Plan priority 1.2, told trustees the district's baseline CCMR for the class of 2024 was 62% and the board's five-year goal is to reach 86% by 2030.
She reported preliminary data for the class of 2025: "they are sitting at a 76.5%." Kornblum said that figure exceeds the board's 74% interim target for the class of 2025 and that grade-12 CCMR measures are also up (grade-12 students at 74.8% in preliminary counts). She credited growth to expanded IBCs (industry-based certifications), increased dual-credit participation and cohort advising and outlined next steps including strengthened TSI/TSIA readiness cycles, targeted remediation, Saturday tutorials and stronger dual-credit completion supports.
Trustees asked about how the work is differentiated by campus and about testing and planning-day impacts; Kornblum and school leaders described calibrated walkthroughs, data-driven cohort advising and coach/principal support intended to reduce burden on teachers while improving outcomes.
