Multiple residents raised neighborhood quality-of-life concerns during the public-comment portion of the May 12 meeting. A resident identified as living on 80th Sayre asked about resident-parking signs and drivers speeding near his house; the mayor asked Deputy Chief Casey to investigate and report back at the next council meeting. Another resident on 80th Newland reported speeding and potholes and was told the street had been under Bridgeview jurisdiction until 2025 and that the City Engineer had placed the street on the repair list.
Other residents raised parking density on 77th Narragansett, missing sidewalks at 76th and State Road (an issue described as being in Bedford Park jurisdiction), standing water in the Merrimac ditch and an abandoned house on a 84th Merrimac block. The City Engineer noted the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District (MWRD) is handling the ditch issue and that work is ongoing; the Building Commissioner said the owner of the abandoned house had been ticketed for violations. These matters were presented as requests for follow-up rather than items the council resolved that evening.
