LSG data show math regression between benchmarks; district plans Bluebonnet adoption and increased Tier‑1 fidelity

Yvette Moranish presented the district’s Lone Star Governance (LSG) monitoring report on Goals 3 and 4, which focus on math and reading progress monitoring. She said 6th‑grade math performance targets show declines between benchmark 1 and benchmark 2 across multiple campuses and identified common TEKS gaps (6.8, 6.9, 6.14a). “All campuses showed a regression in math from benchmark 1 to 2,” she said, and attributed part of the pattern to differences between the early benchmark (TEKS taught to date) and the cumulative STAR benchmark used later in the year.
For reading (Goal 4), Yvette highlighted notable increases in 4th‑grade results after adopting a new reading resource and recommended sustaining strategies that strengthened instruction: PLCs based on data, walk‑through coaching and fidelity to high‑quality instructional materials. The district intends to adopt Bluebonnet math materials and purchase associated manipulatives and teacher resources; staff said training has already started.
Trustees asked for campus‑specific plans, monitoring timelines and assurance that administrators will model instruction and provide feedback during walk‑throughs. Yvette committed to campus‑specific interventions and continuing professional development over the summer and early next year.
