"For August, we saw a 109 calls for service here in the city, which is down slightly from the month before," Lieutenant Semper said, and added deputies will continue area checks and school-resource coverage. He noted the sheriff’s office has several officers in various stages of pre-academy, academy and post-academy training; he expects staffing numbers to increase in early 2025 as recruits complete training and fill posts.
Councilors thanked the lieutenant and asked about monitoring related to trail and traffic concerns raised during public comment; the lieutenant reiterated deputies patrol the area but did not specify new enforcement actions.
