Council approves final payment for sports court; parking and fencing to follow

Councilors voted to approve the final payment for the Rainier sports court and agreed to submit reimbursement requests to Thurston County for eligible costs.
Staff member Adam Lyons said the court opened and the project was under budget; he explained the city issued the check and will forward contractor invoices to the county for reimbursement. Chair noted remaining tasks — hot topping and parking lot work, fence installation and a sign — and estimated completion by mid-November: "I would be shocked if it's not done by middle of November."
Council also discussed lighting options: Adam said the PSC contractor can schedule on/off hours or dim the lights at agreed times. The council recorded a 5-0 vote to approve the final payment and reiterated that fence and paving work remain to finish the project this fall.
