Waco ISD reports early gains in parent engagement, sets 2030 goal for campus groups

Jill Anderson, presenting the item, said early work has produced 14 formally reporting parent groups after three months of focused effort.
"We have 99.2% contactability with our families in Waco ISD," Anderson said, citing ParentSquare metrics the district is using to measure outreach. She added the district's parent interaction rate on the platform is 48%, above a referenced nationwide benchmark of 36%.
Anderson reviewed other engagement activities the district has used to build participation, including campus events (Fiesta, Family Fest), empowerment meetings for high-school parents, and family-focused programming such as Zumba nights and cooking demonstrations. The district also cited the use of climate surveys as a measurement tool; Anderson said the baseline safety-and-engagement score from a May 2025 survey is 74%, with a target of 88'95% by 2030.
Trustees asked a few operational questions and offered suggestions (for example, more parental education about PTA responsibilities). Anderson said the district is coordinating with the state PTA representative and will continue to refine supports and training for campus parent groups. No formal action was required on the item.
