Whitehouse ISD approves continued pay for employees idled by Jan. 26–28 weather closures

The Whitehouse ISD Board of Trustees adopted an Emergency Closing Wage Payment Resolution at its Feb. 9 meeting authorizing continued wage payments to scheduled employees who were instructed not to report to work during the Jan. 26–28, 2026 weather-related closing.
The resolution, passed by motion of Trustee Nick Moss and seconded by Trustee Keidric Trimble, states that continuing wages for idled employees supports morale and staffing continuity and that nonexempt employees who worked during the closing shall be paid at their normal rate for hours up to 40 per week, with overtime calculated and paid according to law and district policy DEA (Local). The resolution applies to the shutdown period of Jan. 26–28, 2026.
Board members recorded a 5–0 vote among those present; the resolution directs payroll and HR offices to implement the wage payments in accordance with district policy and federal wage-hour law.
