Council OKs easement for park power and awards electrical work for Gurbisz Park improvements

Eatontown council members on March 11 adopted Ordinance 06-2026 granting Jersey Central Power & Light a permanent easement to install and maintain electrical facilities at Captain James M. Gurbisz Park.
Attorney Andrew Bayer read the ordinance title. The recorded ordinance describes the easement route and authorizes installation of overhead and underground electrical distribution facilities to serve park improvements. The ordinance text names the easement alignment (from existing pole 217229A53832 along Wilson Ave to new pole 21734A53822 and underground runs to structure 217228A53812) and authorizes the Mayor to execute the agreement in a form approved by the borough attorney.
On the consent agenda the council also approved Resolution 78-2026, awarding an electrical-services contract to MRC Recreation (ESCNJ contract #24/25-01) for temporary and permanent power work connected with the concession building and splash pad project, with the borough engineer recommending award. The staff memo attached to the resolution identifies the award amount at $48,592.00 and confirms available capital funds. The council also authorized T&M Associates to provide additional engineering services to coordinate utilities at the park site.
Mayor Anthony Talerico and Administrator William P. Lucia, III said the utility work is part of the broader park build-out. The ordinances and resolutions provide the easement and contractor authority necessary for the concession and splash-pad construction to proceed.
