The Whitney Independent School District Board of Trustees voted unanimously on March 9 to approve the 2026–27 district calendar that gives Mondays off. The motion was made by Amy Hoffman and seconded by Nicole Corson.
Students and community members addressed the board during public comment urging the Monday-off option. High school students Bailey Nelson and Jonathan Nava told trustees they preferred Mondays off, and several teachers and parents said the schedule helps staff prepare for the week. The board’s vote followed those remarks and a formal motion on the consent agenda.
The calendar vote was one of several personnel and policy items approved during the meeting. Trustees were present and established a quorum at 6:01 PM; the meeting concluded with adjournment at 8:56 PM.
