Whitney ISD board honors staff and students, celebrates football district title

The Whitney Independent School District Board of Trustees opened its Jan. 12 regular meeting with recognitions of staff and students from every campus and a celebration of the high school football team’s district championship.
Staff Members of the Month named were Susan Corbin (elementary), Erin Cadena (intermediate), Lyndsey Threadgill (middle) and Joseph O’Hearn (high school). Students of the Month were Emma Jones (elementary), Jameison Hamlin (intermediate), Kase Ripley (middle) and Jonathan Nava (high school). "The campuses recognized the School Board and showed them their appreciation for all of their hard work and dedication they provide for the school district," the record states.
David Haynes recognized the football team as District Champions, noting a 10–3 overall record and a 5–0 district mark; the team presented board members with a helmet signed by players. The recognitions were read during the presentations portion of the agenda and required no board action. The meeting moved on after the recognitions to routine business.
