Superintendent Jones told trustees that the City of Troup has asked the district to provide easier access to a warning system pole located on the elementary playground. Jones said that when the system requires servicing, crews and trucks currently must access the playground area, which forces a temporary closure of the playground for safety. The city proposed moving the fence several feet so service work can be completed without interrupting school activities.
Board members noted the operational impact and did not take immediate action at the special meeting. Trustees indicated facilities staff and the city should coordinate to develop a plan that minimizes disruption to students and documents any costs or liability implications for future consideration.
