The Board approved the AFSCME Council 4, Local 2693W Police Bargaining Unit Contract covering July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2029 by a 3–0 vote. Personnel Administrator Ray Lagasse presented the Personnel Report summarizing recent hires and recruitment activity, including the appointment of Suellen Kamara as Executive Assistant to the First Selectman, Caroline Krissner as a part‑time library circulation assistant, and Jason Kenneson as a part‑time custodian.
The Board also approved several job descriptions designed to address evolving operational needs: IT Technician Coordinator, Lead Custodian, Working Foreman, and the Operator I/II/III classifications. Mr. Lagasse reported recruitment will continue for an IT Technician Coordinator, Lead Custodian and Public Works Equipment Operator III, and noted two candidates had accepted full‑time police officer offers pending background checks.
Why it matters: The contract approval sets terms for police bargaining unit pay and conditions for the next three fiscal years; the new job descriptions and ongoing recruitments are intended to support forthcoming IT and ERP work and to fill operational vacancies in public works and facilities.
