Mayor Mengoni told trustees that Amazon Fresh officially closed its North Riverside operation effective Feb. 1, 2026, and said the village received notification on Jan. 30 of the closure and is "encouraged with the potential prospects" the leasing manager is pursuing to re-tenant the site.
On public safety staffing, Mayor Mengoni said she and Clerk Lid swore in the 28th police officer, which "bring[s] the number to our budgeted number of officers" and left the village "fully staffed." The mayor framed the changes as local developments to be managed by village administration as leasing prospects and staffing adjustments continue.
The board did not take any formal action related to the Amazon Fresh property during the meeting, and no timeline or prospective lessee names were disclosed in the minutes.
