Demetra Warren, president of the Southwest Association of Buffalo Soldiers (SWABs), invited Cochise County residents to attend a dinner tonight at the CIC Building and a free community event Saturday at Buena High School starting at 8:30 a.m. Warren said the group will feature an art exhibition and a "Buffalo Soldier Trail" to tell local military history and honor veterans.
Warren highlighted a planned interview with World War II veteran Anthony Parley, whom she said is 100 years old and served with the 92nd Infantry in Italy; she described that interview as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The organization also requested continued community support and donations, noting that uniforms alone cost about $6,800 and that SWABs lack a permanent building to display artifacts.
