Huachuca City to host National Night Out and back-to-school fair tonight; backpacks and community resources promised

Huachuca City officials invited residents to a combined National Night Out and back-to-school fair tonight at the Huachuca City Town Complex behind town hall, the police and fire stations and the library. Chief Wyatt Berry said the event begins at 6:00 p.m. and runs until about 7:30 p.m., with displays from local, state and federal partners as well as mental-health crisis support groups.
Joshua Sims of the Huachuca City Library said the back-to-school portion will distribute backpacks filled with supplies to children in need and that organizers typically provide between 167 and 200 backpacks. "We usually do about a 167 to 200 backpacks," Sims said. The library and local nonprofits helped secure donations and sponsors; residents were directed to the town or library Facebook pages or the Town Hall phone line for more information.
