Elizabeth council approves vehicle purchases, ammunition and insurance renewals in consent business

At their March 10 meeting the Elizabeth City Council approved a slate of procurement and insurance actions across departments.
The council awarded a contract to Nielson Ford for two 2025 Ford Explorers (Active 4WD) at a combined price of $86,209.95 for Health & Human Services vehicle needs. Pellegrino Chevrolet was awarded contracts for a 2026 Chevrolet Tahoe for the Police Department ($68,196.30) and a 2026 Chevrolet Trailblazer for Health & Human Services ($25,725.55). The council also approved an ammunition purchase from Lawmen Supply Co. for $12,354.00 under state contract.
Separately, the council authorized renewal of flood insurance for 71 Front Street through Selective Insurance (premium not to exceed $6,500) and an excess flood policy for 519 Trenton Avenue ($4,600), both arranged through agent Otterstedt Insurance Agency. Those insurance contracts were approved under the statutory exception for insurance procurement.
All procurement and insurance actions were carried by unanimous recorded votes as part of the meeting's consent business.
