Wheaton council reappoints two to Police Pension Fund, approves $2.31M warrant; council highlights library warming center and downtown grant

The Wheaton City Council on Jan. 20 reappointed Tim Bayee and Brett Mathieson to the Police Pension Fund Board for three-year terms expiring Jan. 20, 2029. The motion was moved by Mayor Suess and seconded by Councilwoman Bray-Parker and approved by unanimous roll call.
Later in the agenda the council approved Warrant No. 912 in the amount of $2,309,009.73 following a motion by Councilwoman Bray-Parker and second by Councilwoman Robbins; the roll-call vote was unanimous.
During Council Comment, Councilwoman Bray-Parker reminded residents that the Wheaton Public Library serves as a warming center and noted Steven Davis received the 2026 Open Doors Award from DuPage County. Councilwoman Robbins congratulated Allison Orr of the Downtown Wheaton Association for receiving a $30,000 grant from the State of Illinois through the Tourism Marketing and Partnership program and mentioned a new digital kiosk installation downtown between Moveable Feast and The Ivy restaurants.
The meeting adjourned at 7:18 p.m. after the council completed its final roll-call vote to adjourn.
