Leaseback, venue access and internships part of Waco–WACO ISD interlocal pact

Officials said the interlocal agreement is designed to maintain school access while embedding student learning opportunities in city operations. Deputy City Manager Deidra Amerson described the lease and partnership benefits, including discounted access to downtown venues and structured student experiences.
"A lease through 03/31/2026 and an interlocal providing discounted access to downtown venues, including Foster Pavilion for up to 2 graduation events per year through 2037, and the Waco Convention Center for up to 5 annual events, plus structured student learning experiences and a minimum of 10 annual internships or externships across city departments," Amerson said. City and district leaders said the terms are intended to preserve Indian Spring’s legacy while creating civic opportunities for students.
