Waco approves $32.2 million purchase of former Indian Spring campus

The Waco City Council and the WACO ISD Board on Oct. 7 approved a package that sells roughly 22.8 acres — including the former Indian Spring Middle School campus — to the city for $32,200,000. Deputy City Manager Deidra Amerson told the joint meeting the purchase would support downtown redevelopment while preserving the site’s educational and community uses.
"What's before you, approval to purchase approximately 22.8 acres at 500 North University Parks ... for $32,200,000, plus associated closing costs up to a $100,000," Deputy City Manager Deidra Amerson said. The purchase-and-sale is paired with a short-term leaseback through March 31, 2026 and an interlocal agreement outlining shared programming and venue access.
