Presenter outlines extended enrollment window, demos Engagely classroom tools

Presenter to the Quillayute Valley School District board said the district has extended enrollment windows for most grades through May to allow late enrollees to be included before the state testing window. The presenter told trustees the change grew out of last year’s experience when the district left enrollment open for K–2 and saw additional students enroll, and added that 12th-grade enrollment will not be extended past the district’s February cutoff to meet Cognia residency-credit requirements. "We actually extended all of our enrollment dates... all the way through May," the presenter said.
The presenter also walked the board through Engagely (Class Connect) features in a short demo and a teacher playback clip. The software shows a playback room where teachers can review recordings, see private teacher notes and view individual formative responses; presenters said teachers can preload programmable QR codes for in-the-moment quizzes, launch video links and review response data after sessions. In the video excerpt, the classroom teacher discussed the vertical-line test for functions as part of an algebra lesson. The presenter said the platform gives teachers dashboards that can be filtered by grade, program and demographic group to monitor course-passing rates, targeted-session attendance and student engagement.
Board members asked about how targeted-session times are set and about transition issues when students move between platforms. The presenter said targeted sessions typically run 30–60 minutes and are scheduled through the Class Connect system. The district also plans to migrate all course content into a single learning-management system (Canvas) for fall implementation to provide a consistent experience K–12 and reduce training friction for students and staff. The presenter closed by offering to share slides and invite trustees to the district’s weekly data-monitoring meeting so they can see the DIAO cadence of data→insights→actions→outcomes.
